Types of resin surfacing

There are two types of resin-based surfacing you can choose from:

  • Resin-bound surfaces: By mixing gravel with resin before laying, we provide a fast-draining surface that protects against water pooling and frost damage. With its smooth surface, permeable resin-bounded surfacing strikes the perfect balance between style and utility.
  • Resinbonded surfaces: In this method, gravel is laid over a thin layer of resin to create the appearance of loose stone while keeping the material in place. Resin-bonded surfacing is the perfect choice if you prefer a more traditional and elegant appearance.

We design low-maintenance resin driveways, patios and paths with safety and convenience in mind.

Our powerful resin holds your gravel in place, creating a high-friction anti-slip surface. And it prevents weed growth, so you can enjoy a stunning surface without the need for constant upkeep.

You can expect your resin surface to last 15-25 years without any significant repair or replacement. That means investing in resin surfacing is both visually appealing and cost effective!

Resin Surfacing FAQs

What is resin surfacing?

Resin is a clear, viscous liquid that solidifies after curing. It’s used to hold aggregates in place for driveways, paths, patios and commercial areas.

Both resin and aggregates come in many different colours. So it’s easy to pick out resin surfacing to match any kind of property.

What are the two types of resin surfacing?

When it comes to resin, you can choose between resin-bound and resin-bonded surfacing.

In resin-bound surfacing, we mix the aggregates into the resin before laying. This creates a smooth decorative surface that’s easy to maintain. Resin-bound surfaces are also permeable, so you don’t have to worry about standing water.

Resin-bonded surfacing, on the other hand, features aggregates pressed into the top of a resin layer. This gives you a traditional loose-gravel look that maintains an even surface. The rough texture also increases grip, making it a great choice for slopes or high-traffic areas.

Should I get a resin driveway?

Laying a resin driveway, footpath or patio is a great way to rejuvenate a worn or drab surface.

It’s a low maintenance material that gives your property a delightful modern edge, making it ideal for homes and businesses.

How much does resin surfacing cost?

A resin-bonded surface (with aggregates on top) costs roughly £40-£80 per square metre.

Resin-bound surfacing (aggregates mixed in) is a bit more expensive at £60-£120 per square metre.

That’s because resin-bound surfaces are much thicker, since you need more resin to completely encase the stones. And since it’s not naturally permeable (unlike a bonded surface) it also needs a SuDS-compliant base, which can add to groundwork costs.

How long does resin surface installation and repair take?

It’s quite easy to repair a resin surface. So we can usually fix even larger damaged areas in just a few hours.

Most installations take 1-3 days depending on the size.

Resin sets for light foot and vehicle traffic within 4-6 hours. And it fully cures within 24-48 hours, which is much quicker than other surfacing materials.

How long will a resin surface last?

With proper installation and maintenance, resin surfacing can last 15-20 years or more.

And you can extend its lifespan even further with preventative maintenance measures like sealcoating.

It’s a cost-effective, long-lasting and low-maintenance option for homes and commercial properties.
